Area InformationThe rivers on which I guide are all set in and around the Peak District of Derbyshire. The river Wye, a renowned Limestone stream, runs from the hills above Buxton, through Bakewell to Rowsley where it joins the Derwent, whilst the Dove runs along the Staffordshire border, again from the hills near Buxton, down past Ashbourne and on into the Trent.
The stillwaters include Carsington, a large 700 acre water near Ashbourne where boat fishing is the norm, Yeaveley, also near Ashbourne, and Barlow, near Chesterfield, both of which are more intimate small waters ideal for the beginner to learn the basics in some shelter. Other venues can be arranged.
Accommodation ~ The Peak District has a long history of tourism and consequently has a wealth of all kinds of accommodation for the visitor, from Campsites through to top Hotels.
Attractions ~ Renowned for it’s natural beauty the Peak District offers many and varied attractions. From the stunning, sometimes brooding Gritstone ‘Edges’ and high moorland of the Dark Peak to the Limestone features of the White Peak it is a place for country lovers with all kinds of interests. Not only are it’s rivers a delight to fish but they and their environs are havens for wildlife which make every day on the river a special day. There are many towns, villages and large houses in and around the Peak District offering shopping, cultural interests and entertainment.
